How to choose a detailer or valeter in Basingstoke and north Hampshire

• Independent corroboration: Tkdetailingcars' Winchester Road address and freephone number are confirmed by a second, independent listing under the name T K Detailing.
• Individual experience: Sam Lidder of Lidder Detailing says he has over a decade in the trade; MC's Detailing was founded by a former aircraft engineer; AndrewsAuto describes itself as trading since 2001.

9 of the 24 detailers and valeters listed here show a Google rating, taken from the business's own Google profile and linked from the listing; the others have no rating from a source this directory can link to. Ask to see reviews directly, or ask how long the business has been trading, rather than judging by a star count seen on another site.

Where coverage is thin, or missing entirely

Odiham (RG29) has no confirmed business at all. A village-by-village search covering Odiham itself, North Warnborough, Long Sutton and Greywell found nothing: every lead was either a mobile operator based well outside the district, in towns as far off as Crowthorne and Reading, or a general MOT garage with no separately marketed valeting service. If you're in Odiham, your nearest confirmed options are the Hook-based businesses above, or a mobile valeter with a wider catchment such as Lidder Detailing, which lists Odiham among the towns it covers.

Two valeting units advertised for Oakley (RG23) — a unit at the Winklebury local centre and one at Springfield in the village itself — turned up in this research but neither publishes a phone number anywhere, so neither could be independently confirmed as reachable and is not listed here; ring ahead to check a business is trading before making a special trip to either address. Tadley, Overton and Whitchurch each have only one confirmed business, so it's worth asking a Basingstoke or Hook-based mobile operator whether they cover your postcode if the local option doesn't suit.

• Carvalet Co Uk, Ru Val and AndrewsAuto each share an address and phone number with a listing under a different trading name (Panther Auto Valeting Ltd, Ruval, and Autosheen/DetailingWorx respectively). It's the same business either way, but worth checking which name it currently answers to.
• FM Detailing in Chineham: its own site and a separate directory profile give different dates for how long the business has been trading. Ask by phone rather than relying on either figure.
• Many of the fixed valeting yards listed here rest on a single online directory entry rather than the business's own website — Ru Val, Badger Car Valet, Vanquish Valets, Autoclean, Allclean Mobile Detailing, Hatch Valeting, The Car Wash Co and Clear Vision Car Valeting Window Cleaning among them. Ring first to check the business is still trading at the address given before you make a special trip.
• Is the price you're quoted for a wash and protect, or does it include machine paint correction first? Correction takes longer and costs more than a wash, and a coating over unaddressed swirls will not look any better than the paint underneath.
