How to choose a car detailer or valeter in Belfast
Workshop, mobile, or a fixed valeting site
Belfast's detailers and valeters are spread across the city and out to Lisburn, Newtownabbey and Bangor & Holywood, and the mix of business types varies by area. Coverage is uneven: Belfast centre has only one confirmed business, and south Belfast & Lisburn Road and Newtownabbey have three each, so choice is more limited there than in east Belfast or Lisburn, which have seven each.
- Garage or industrial-unit based businesses take the car off the road and tend to offer the fuller range of work, from a wash up to correction and coatings: GS Car Valeting and Detailing on the Saintfield Road in Lisburn, PMG Autocare (detailingbelfast.co.uk) from an industrial park unit in west Belfast, Phil's Car Valeting and Complete Car Care Company from industrial estate units on the Crumlin Road and in Lisburn, and Lisburn Steam Cleaning, also unit-based in Lisburn.
- Fixed valeting bays and shopping-centre sites suit a drop-off while you shop or work nearby: Quality Car Wash & Valeting Centre runs one in the CastleCourt car park in Belfast city centre and a second, sister branch in the Abbey Centre car park in Newtownabbey, sharing one phone number between them.
- Mobile detailers and valeters come to your home or workplace instead: Prestige Detailing NI and Krystal Kleen Mobile in south and east Belfast, Pure Perfection in north Belfast, The Valeter Co on the Springfield Road in west Belfast, Supreme Clean Valeting in Bangor, and Auto Heaven Detailing, which covers Bangor, Belfast, Holywood and Dundonald and further afield on request.
- Fixed street-based valeting and hand car wash makes up the rest of the directory: a long list of local operators such as Kerbside Motors, Sandown Autocare, Autoclean, Top Gear Valeting, Vac Shine Car Valet Services, Town Country, Euro Hand Car Wash, Autogleam Car Wash & Valet Centre, Sureclean, Bangor Auto Valet and BM Agencies, most confirmed only by address, phone number and the general 'valeting' or 'car wash' description found on directory listings.
Carfection in Lisburn is worth a separate mention: it's one of the few businesses here with a complete published price list rather than a call-for-quote approach, covering everything from a quick wash to paint correction.
What the credentials found here mean
Confirmed detail on qualifications and history is thin across this town, but a few things are worth knowing.
- Accredited installer: GS Car Valeting and Detailing describes itself as an accredited ceramic coating installer.
- Longer trading history: The Valeter Co cites over ten years of combined experience, and Phil's Car Valeting is described on directories as trading for more than five years.
- Independently verifiable ratings: none. No Google Maps, Trustpilot, Fresha, Booksy or Yelp page could be independently checked for any Belfast business in this directory, so no star rating is shown anywhere on these pages. A few aggregator sites quote star ratings they say come from Google, and Fortwilliam Car Valeting has a Yelp page, but none of these could be verified from an actual, linkable review page, so treat any star rating you see mentioned elsewhere as unconfirmed and ask to see reviews directly if that matters to you.
Questions worth asking before you book
- Fixed premises or mobile - and if mobile, does the detailer bring their own water and power, or do they need yours?
- Is the quote for a wash and valet, or does it include machine paint correction first? Correction and ceramic coating cost substantially more than a wash or valet, as GS Car Valeting and Detailing's and The Valeter Co's price lists both show.
- Many listings here, including Kerbside Motors, Sandown Autocare, Krystal Kleen Kars, Autoclean, Top Gear Valeting and several others, rest on address and phone details confirmed only through directory listings rather than an independent website. Ring first to check the business is still trading and current before assuming the listing is accurate.
- Belfast city centre itself has very little dedicated valeting of its own beyond the CastleCourt car park bay; most operators are based in the surrounding residential and industrial areas instead, so if you're in BT1 or BT2 it's worth asking a nearby operator whether they can reach you.
- If you're in Bangor, Holywood or further out, ask a mobile operator directly whether they cover your postcode before booking, since coverage areas aren't always spelled out.
