How to choose a car detailer or valeter in Blackburn and Burnley

Fixed, mobile, or hand car wash

This town's car care businesses spread across eight areas: Blackburn town centre, Darwen, Accrington & Oswaldtwistle, Burnley, Nelson & Colne, Clitheroe & the Ribble Valley, Rossendale, and Padiham & Great Harwood. Coverage is uneven. Padiham & Great Harwood is the thinnest area by some margin, with only three confirmed businesses (Aqua-Valeting, Premier Mobile Valeting and D B Autoshine), so choice there is genuinely limited compared with the six businesses each recorded in Blackburn town centre, Nelson & Colne and Rossendale. Several mobile operators based in neighbouring areas do say they travel further afield, so it's worth asking a Darwen- or Clitheroe-based mobile valeter whether they reach Padiham or Great Harwood before assuming you have to use one of the three based there.

What the credentials found here mean

None of these is a legal requirement to valet or detail a car, but each shows something about the training, product standards or track record behind the work.

  • Approved product schemes: DVR Hand Car Wash & Valeting Centre describes itself as an Autoglym Approved Elite Car Care Centre, and Ribble Valley Car Valeting says it uses Autoglym products with trained valeters.
  • Companies House registration: Crystal Hand Car Wash in Burnley is registered as Crystal Hand Car Wash Burnley Ltd, giving it a formal company record beyond a directory listing.
  • Longer trading history: Spikes Mobile Car Valeting has traded since 2002, Water Wheels Car Valeting since 2005, Reedyford Mobile Car Valet Service since 2008, AllClean Detail Valeting since 2009, G & G Mobile Valeting since around 2010, and Finer Touch since 2019.
  • Independently verifiable ratings: none of the forty businesses in this directory currently carry a rating from an allowed, linkable source such as Google, Trustpilot, Fresha, Booksy or Yelp. A few businesses' own websites quote star ratings from their own testimonials pages, but that is not the same as a fetched, independent review page, so no rating is shown for any business here yet. Ask to see reviews directly, or check the business's own Google Business Profile yourself, rather than taking a self-published figure on trust.

Questions worth asking before you book

  • Fixed premises or mobile — and if mobile, does the valeter bring their own water and power, or do they need yours?
  • Is the quote for a wash and valet, or does it include machine polishing or paint correction first? Correction takes longer and costs more, and a ceramic coating over unaddressed swirls will not look any better than the paint underneath.
  • For a fixed hand car wash: is it walk-in, or do you need to book ahead, and is there somewhere to wait while the car is done?
  • Several listings here rest on a single online listing rather than the business's own website — All Clean Valeting, Blackburn Car Valeting, Baxenden Auto Wash, Bugs Away Mobile Car Valeting, Sj Valeting, Ultimate Car Valeting Services, Chamois Shiner, VIP Valeting and D B Autoshine among them. Ring first to check the business is still trading and that the address and services are current before assuming the listing is accurate.
  • If you're in Padiham or Great Harwood, ask a Darwen-, Nelson- or Clitheroe-based mobile operator directly whether they cover your postcode, since this area has the fewest businesses confirmed as based there.
