Why so little is published

This part of County Durham is dominated by single-operator mobile valeters and small hand-wash units, most of them found only on general directory listings rather than on a website of their own: 24 of the 36 businesses here have no independent website at all. Even the businesses that do have one, including Pilote Detailing and Mirror Finish Detailing in Durham, Stanley Hand Car Wash, Detailing and Valeting Centre, Derwentside Valeting and Titanium Valets, quote per job rather than publish a menu, since a valet or detail is usually priced once the vehicle's size and condition are known. JR Valeting & Detailing, Mark Hayton Mobile Car & Caravan Valeting, Concept Auto Detailing and Willow Valeting are the only four with any published figures, and even they leave most of their wider work unpriced beyond the headline services shown above — JR's decontamination washes, Mark Hayton's caravan and motorhome valeting, Concept's paint correction, and Willow's car valeting itself.

Questions worth asking before you call

  • What does a standard valet include, and is interior cleaning or a wax finish charged separately?
  • For paint correction or ceramic and graphene coating work, such as OCD Vehicle Detailing's or Pilote Detailing's: does the price depend on how much correction the paint needs first?
  • Most businesses here are mobile: does the valeter bring their own water and power, or do they need access to yours?
  • Is there a minimum charge for a van, a larger vehicle, or a heavily soiled interior?
