PPF (paint protection film) in Eastbourne: who fits it and is it worth it

What it costs

None of the six publishes a fixed PPF price locally, so expect a quote based on which panels are covered and the make and model of car. PPF is typically sold by coverage area — a partial front-end package against a full car wrap — rather than as a single flat fee, and the film itself is a bigger material cost than a ceramic coating. Ask each business for a like-for-like quote covering the same panels if you are comparing prices between them.

PPF versus ceramic coating

The two protect against different things and are often confused. Ceramic coating, offered by eleven businesses in this directory (see our Eastbourne ceramic coating guide), makes a surface easier to clean and more resistant to chemical staining and UV fade, but it will not stop a stone chip. PPF is a physical film that genuinely prevents chips on the panels it covers, but does nothing for the rest of the car's paint. Is it worth it

PPF is the more expensive of the two protective products, and it makes the most sense for a car that does a lot of motorway miles, is kept for a long time, or is new enough that the owner wants to keep the front end chip-free. For an older car, or one that will be sold within a couple of years, the extra cost over a ceramic coating alone is harder to justify unless stone-chip damage is already a known problem on the roads you drive.
