How to choose a detailer or valeter in Medway

Medway's businesses are spread unevenly across its towns: Gillingham has six confirmed businesses, Chatham and Rochester five each, Rainham four, Strood three, and Snodland and Walderslade & Lordswood one each. Hoo Peninsula & Wainscott has no dedicated local operator confirmed in this research at all — the closest thing found is NS Auto Detailing and Valeting, based in Chatham, which advertises into the Cliffe, Kent Facebook community group and so may reach the Hoo side of Medway, but no business is based there. If you're in that area, ask a Chatham or Strood-based mobile operator directly whether they cover your postcode before booking.

A few businesses are based outside Medway but were kept because they name a real town here as somewhere they regularly work: Mobile Valet Clinic is based in Longfield but names Rochester within its roughly 30-mile radius, and Sam's Detail Wash and IN-OUT AutoClean describe themselves as covering the wider Medway area rather than one fixed town, so they're listed under Chatham as the largest town in that area.

What the credentials found here mean

None of these is a legal requirement to detail a car, but each shows something about the training or track record behind the work.

  • Manufacturer-accredited coatings: Unit Eleven is an accredited installer for Gtechniq, Feynlab and Gyeon ceramic coatings, alongside its own in-house blend, and the company has been registered since 2023.
  • Longer trading history: Clint's Detailing has over 20 years' experience, and Panda Perfection has traded since 2018.
  • Independently verifiable ratings: none of the 25 businesses in this directory carries a rating from an allowed independent source — Google, Trustpilot, Fresha, Booksy or Yelp — in this research pass. Several appear on directory sites with review counts, but those pages were not fetched and read, so no rating is shown here. Ask to see reviews directly when you call.

Questions worth asking before you book

  • Fixed premises or mobile — and if mobile, does the detailer bring their own water and power, or do they need yours?
  • Is the quote for a wash and protect, or does it include machine paint correction first? Correction takes longer and costs more, and a coating over unclipped swirls will not look any better than the paint underneath.
  • For a hand car wash: is it walk-in, or do you need to book ahead?
  • Eleven of the 25 listings here rest on a single directory entry rather than the business's own website or social media page — G B Waller Car Valeting, Sam's Detail Wash, Valeting Centre, Valet King, Elite Car Valeting, A1 Valeters, Executive Valeting, Autoglitz, Autovalet Direct (Medway), Bumper To Bumper and A C G Car Valeting Service among them. Ring first to check the business is still trading and current before assuming the listing is accurate; two of them (Autoglitz and Autovalet Direct) list old-style 0845 and 0870 numbers that were not tested.
  • Panda Perfection's own website and Facebook page both name Snodland as its base, though a separate directory listing gives West Malling instead; it's listed here under Snodland, but worth confirming when you call if you're relying on that address.
  • If you're on the Hoo Peninsula, ask a Chatham or Strood-based mobile operator directly whether they reach you, since no business here is based on the peninsula itself.
