How to choose a detailer or valeter in Peterborough

Studio, mobile, or hand car wash

Peterborough's detailers and valeters spread across the city centre and out to Orton, Werrington, Hampton, Whittlesey and Yaxley. Bretton has no confirmed business in this round of research at all - three car washes were found there, but none had a phone number on any fetchable source, so none could be published. Whittlesey has just one confirmed business, Elite Clean Mobile Car Valeting & Detailing, so choice is more limited there than elsewhere in the town.

  • Fixed studios take the car off the road: SCL Car Detailing works from a workshop on Second Drove, and Prestige Valeting runs an eight-to-ten-car studio in Cygnet Park, Hampton, alongside its sister PPF business Prestige Shields.
  • Mobile detailers and valeters come to your driveway or workplace: DAS Detail, Get Smart Mobile Valeting and Detailing, AB Detailing, Twig Detailing, Atelier Car Care, Quinn's Vehicle Detailing, ES Vehicle Detailing, Val-Tech Solutions, MKValeting, Auto Transform and Elite Clean Mobile Car Valeting & Detailing all work this way. Knights Detailing is fixed in Orton Longueville but works strictly by appointment rather than as a walk-in studio.
  • Fixed hand car wash suits a regular clean rather than correction work: A&G Hand Car Wash, P1 Ortongate Hand Car Wash, Dori Hand Car Wash and Real Hand Car Wash are all walk-in sites.

What the accreditations found here mean

None of these is a legal requirement to detail a car, but each shows a level of training and, for coatings, a route back to the brand if the work fails.

  • Ceramic Pro certified, also RUPES and QPON accredited: SCL Car Detailing.
  • Ceramic Pro, XPEL and Mavinci accredited: Prestige Valeting.
  • Gtechniq-branded coatings: Knights Detailing.
  • Authorised LLumar/SunTek Paint Protection Film installer, plus its own Titan ceramic coating: Style & Shield Studios.

Questions worth asking before you book

  • Fixed premises or mobile - and if mobile, does the detailer bring their own water and power, or do they need yours?
  • Is the quote for a wash and protect, or does it include machine paint correction first? Correction takes longer and costs more, and a coating over unclipped swirls will not look any better than the paint underneath.
  • For a hand car wash site: is it walk-in, or do you need to book ahead, and what are its actual opening hours today?
  • Which ceramic coating or PPF brand, and what warranty or backing does the manufacturer offer?
  • If a listing's address, website or hours are unclear - as with several of the businesses found in this town - ring first to check the business is still trading before assuming the directory listing is current.
