How to choose a detailer or valeter in Redhill, Reigate and Dorking

Studio, hand car wash, or mobile

Across the six areas covered here, choice is uneven. Redhill & Merstham has the most, with seven confirmed businesses, and Reigate has five. Horley has four and Dorking has three, but Betchworth & Brockham and Lingfield each have just one confirmed business – Atlantico Valeting Ltd in Betchworth and Miracle Detail in Lingfield. Both are genuinely thin: these are small villages with almost no fixed motor-trade premises, and repeated research passes on both turned up no further names with a verifiable local base. If you're in either area, it's worth asking a mobile business based in a neighbouring town, such as one of the Redhill, Reigate or Dorking operators below, whether it reaches you.

Only four businesses here run a real fixed studio or workshop with a services menu: Bubbles Car Spa and SMC Detailing in Redhill, Atlantico Valeting Ltd in Betchworth, and Miracle Detail in Lingfield. The rest of the fixed sites – H&L Hand Car Wash and R S Sons in Redhill, Dorking Hand Car Wash, and Autobrite Automotive in Horley – are hand car wash or valeting yards rather than detailing studios. The remaining thirteen businesses are mobile, coming to your home or workplace: Bourne to Detail, Barry Snel's Mobile Valet and Granger's Car Valet around Redhill; The Shine Machine, Mobile Car Valeting Surrey, Mobile Valet, Improve My Car and Glitz N Go Mobile Car Valeting around Reigate; Deals On Wheels and SB Mobile Valet around Dorking; and Redline Valeting, Ultimate Paint Protection and Autogleam Services around Horley.

What the credentials found here mean

  • Professional Valeters & Detailers (PVD) member, approved by Chipex, Xpel and IGL Coatings: Bourne to Detail, trading in Redhill since 2015.
  • Gtechniq ceramic coatings, work on supercars: SMC Detailing, from a unit in Salfords on the edge of Redhill.
  • Longer trading history (self-reported): Bubbles Car Spa since 2010, Granger's Car Valet with the owner citing over twenty years in the trade, and Miracle Detail's own site claiming more than 30 years of industry experience. None of these three has an independent record behind the claim, so treat them as background rather than a verified credential.

6 of the 21 detailers and valeters listed here show a Google rating, taken from the business's own Google profile and linked from the listing; the others have no rating from a source this directory can link to. Ask to see reviews directly, or ask how long the business has been trading, rather than judging by anything quoted on a business's own site.

Questions worth asking before you book

  • Is this a dedicated detailing studio, a fixed hand car wash yard, or a mobile operator, and does that match what you actually want done?
  • If it's mobile: does the valeter bring their own water and power, and do they cover your exact postcode?
  • Several listings here rest on a single directory entry rather than the business's own website – Barry Snel's Mobile Valet, R S Sons, The Shine Machine, Mobile Valet, Improve My Car, Redline Valeting, Ultimate Paint Protection and Autobrite Automotive among them. Ring first to check the business is still trading at the address given.
  • R S Sons and the Mobile Car Valeting freephone number each cover more than one local premises under the same name; confirm which one you're actually booking.
  • Is the price you're quoted for a wash and protect, or does it include machine paint correction first? Correction takes longer and costs more than a wash, and a coating over unaddressed swirls will not look any better than the paint underneath.
  • If you're in Betchworth, Brockham or Lingfield, ask a mobile business based in a neighbouring area whether it covers your postcode before ruling it out, since local choice there is genuinely limited.
