How to choose a detailer or valeter in Salisbury and Basingstoke

Studios, mobile detailers and fixed valeting pitches

This directory covers eight areas across Salisbury, Amesbury & Durrington, Andover, Basingstoke town centre, Basingstoke north & Chineham, Tadley & Hook, Winchester, and Warminster & Westbury — a spread that crosses the Wiltshire/Hampshire boundary rather than sitting inside one town. Coverage is uneven across it: Basingstoke town centre has seven confirmed businesses and Andover six, while Amesbury & Durrington and Tadley & Hook are thin, with two and three confirmed businesses respectively, and no fixed studio in either area — both rely on mobile operators or on businesses based in a neighbouring area travelling in.

What the credentials found here mean

None of these is a legal requirement to valet or detail a car, but each shows something about the training or track record behind the work.

  • Trade membership and accreditation: White's Pro Valeting & Detailing has been a member of the Professional Valeting & Detailing association since 2013; LND Valet & Detailing is a SONAX Authorised Detailer; Premier Shine Andover's owner is a Certified Detailer and a Matrix-accredited AutoSmart Smart Valeter.
  • Longer trading history: Accel Valeting & Detailing's owner cites over 40 years in the trade, Konings Detailing was established in 2008, and AndrewsAuto describes itself as trading since 2001.
  • Company registration: Konings Detailing is registered at Companies House as Konings Detailing Ltd, company number 06582810, with a registered office in Winchester — the only business here confirmed against the official register.
  • Ratings: no business in this town carries a rating on Google, Trustpilot, Fresha, Booksy or Yelp that could be verified at the link, so every rating field here is blank. Star ratings quoted on directory pages for a handful of these businesses are not shown, since they cannot be checked independently.

Where coverage is thin

Amesbury & Durrington has only two confirmed businesses, JP Valeting and Raymond Valeting, both mobile and both without a confirmed street-level address beyond Amesbury and Salisbury generally. Tadley & Hook has three — AndrewsAuto, Grime 2 Shine and Clear Vision Car Valeting Window Cleaning — which is still thin set against the size of the area. If you're in either area, it's worth asking a Salisbury, Basingstoke or Winchester-based mobile operator whether they travel to you before assuming local choice is limited to the businesses listed under your own area.

Before you book

  • Fixed premises or mobile — and if mobile, does the detailer bring their own water and power, or do they need yours?
  • Is the quote for a wash and protect, or does it include machine paint correction first? Correction takes longer and costs more, and a coating over unclipped swirls will not look any better than the paint underneath.
  • A Star Valet in Warminster: sources disagree on its current premises, with two different addresses given for the same industrial estate and a possible move to a third site nearby. Confirm the current address by phone before you visit.
  • FM Detailing in Chineham: its own site and a separate directory profile give different starting points for how long the business has been trading. Ask by phone rather than relying on either figure.
  • Many of the fixed valeting pitches listed here rest on a single online directory entry rather than the business's own website. Ring first to check the business is still trading at that address before assuming the listing is current.
